1913 -- Glen Martin on Muskegon Lake, Michigan

Glen Martin would have loved the port at Tillicum Village, but it was a far cry from Muskegon seventy-three years ago when he breezed in to the Muskegon Lake. Today these shores are overrun with habitation and there are little -- if any -- flying planes coming in.
Here he is having a tough time getting in to dock -- no eager hands on shore reaching out to greet him. He did secure the plane and thus establish his place in aviation history.
